What is a Nannycam?
A nanny cam is simply a hidden camera, typically used to keep watch over your child’s caregiver. Often, the camera is hidden inside an appliance like an alarm clock, stereo boombox, or other household item. Because this camera is hidden inside another item, you can position it anywhere in your house, and usually in plain view.

These cameras can be built into just about any household item. Nanny cams come available in smoke detectors, wall clocks, alarm clocks, DVD players, stuffed animals, books, and tissue dispensers. This wide variety of items means that you can find a hidden camera that will blend naturally with your other household possessions.
Since many units require a battery to operate, more sophisticated units include motion detectors to conserve power. Infrared “nightvision” capabilities are also installed into some units, keeping them watchful even in low light situations. Further, newer units are equipped with HD cameras, recording the events in your home in high definition video and sound.
Parents who purchase a nannycam to keep watch over their caregivers, also find that these spy cameras are also useful for keeping an eye on contractors or other visitors to your home. Making sure that the babysitter is watching the children is just as important as making sure that the repairman is not snooping through personal items while on the job. Teen residents of the home can also be monitored while parents are away, with a video record of their activities.

This will hopefully help to improve my security, as I had a few problems in the past.
Its good now that we have this tiny cameras that our kids are no longer mistreated or we get to know it before it goes to far. My main quetion is: is it legal since the federal law requires that you warn people in writing that video recording is going on.
